What else can SELT do for you?

SELT is dedicated to high quality leadership development and is able to offer a wide range of services to individuals, groups, schools and educational organisations to reflect their priorities/needs.

Our offer includes:  tailored programmes at all levels of leadership, consultancy, coaching, event management and e-learning.  Our expert consultants, coaches and facilitators work with researchers, key educational figures and agencies to ensure that our provision is both ‘leading edge’ and ‘fit for purpose’.  Whether you need to develop leaders to improve practice, to stimulate innovation and creativity, to address your current challenges, lead more effective teams or achieve more with less - SELT can help!

We work in a range of specially chosen good quality venues across England, or if you wish within your school, organisation or locality.  The SELT team is always happy to discuss your specific needs/requirements in order to give you maximum support and ensure value for money.

Bespoke Training and Development:
Recent research shows very clearly that school-based learning is highly effective in building individual, team and organisational capacity to support improvement.  SELT can work with you to design a programme or offer consultancy/coaching that is specifically tailored to your school/organisation’s needs and context.  Support can be for an individual, team or whole school, or for a group of schools/agencies in a locality or cluster.

Our consultants and facilitators have extensive experience of working with schools, in wider education and multi agency settings.  They are skilled in both programme design and delivery.  We regularly work with local authorities and in international contexts to create and support leadership provision and development opportunities.  Recent examples of bespoke work have included: programmes for primary and special leadership teams, coaching initiatives in secondary schools and international programmes for Abu Dhabi where the focus was training the Education Advisers as trainers and in Indonesia to build communities of leaders and leadership capacity.

Training Facilities:
SELT has two main buildings, one in the South East of England, the South East Leadership Centre (near Sittingbourne, Kent) and the other in the South West of England, the South West Leadership Centre (near Taunton, Somerset). Both are purpose designed and have a suite of training rooms and administrative support facilities with disabled access throughout.  Although we are not a commercial organisation and work on a ‘not for profit’ basis, we are pleased where available to share our training facilities with other organisations for whom our facilities may provide a suitable training/conference venue.

Because of the nature of our work, and our charitable status, we are able to offer the facilities at a hugely competitive rate, so that we are able to sustain our costs rather than make a business profit.

Consultancy:
Increasingly consultancy is becoming a core part of SELT’s work as schools, academies and local authorities require bespoke provision.

SELT’s team of quality assured consultants are able to offer highly effective support and challenge that is rooted in your context and your priorities. Consultants are drawn from a variety of backgrounds including: headship, senior team leadership, LAs, multi-agency and business. They offer a wide range of skills from coaching to project management to high level facilitation and most things in between!

Our consultants have extensive experience in scoping requests and delivering a high quality tailored service. They know how to innovate and empower leaders and teams. They have practical and proven methods for creating and sustaining improvement.

Publishing:
SELT believes that high quality research, appropriate resources and practical guidance are essential to support heads and educational leaders in these ever changing times.  We have therefore launched an innovative series of workbooks that offer: detailed studies of key leadership themes, and offer a balance of theory and practice, with a sharp focus on effective leadership behaviours.  The workbooks will include:  case studies, issues for discussion, diagnostic reviews and exercises to support implementation and reflection.  The titles in the initial series include:  Leadership across the Community, Leadership for Collaboration and Cohesion and Developing Leadership Potential.  The workbooks will be written by Professor John West-Burnham in collaboration with highly effective practising headteachers and educational leaders.

This is an exciting venture offering a substantial resource that is deeply rooted in the issues facing educational leaders today.  SELT anticipates that publishing will become a key feature of its work offering a repertoire of tools and materials to support heads and those working in schools/educational settings to meet the complex challenges they face.
