Successful headteacher visits have been made to Holland, Russia and South Africa. The South African visit, under the auspices of the British Council and the South East Leadership Trust, gave participating headteachers the opportunity to focus on the theme of Community Leadership. In addition they pursued a range of individual curriculum and leadership interests. As part of the visit they spent time with host headteacher colleagues at the Matthew Gonive School of Leadership and Governance, visited schools, participated in a professional enhancement seminar and listened to a ministerial presentation on the status of South African Education.
Participants who were drawn from a wide variety of both primary and secondary schools described the visit as:
“A fantastic week, partnerships have been forged with host schools”
“I learnt a huge amount about commitment and dedication to learning brought about by poverty and self belief”
“An amazing week”
“It was uplifting”
“The visit has had a direct impact on my leadership thinking” |
