Touchstone
The Essential Programme for those in Early Headship
Entering Headship is both an exciting and daunting time. In all our work with new headteachers and those in early headship we know what they value most highly is networking, dialogue and reassurance from other heads. The vehicle for this was often the New Visions Programme which enabled heads in similar and different contexts, and often across Local Authorities, to meet and engage in dialogue about good practice and share their successes and challenges.
Now that New Visions has ended SELT has developed an innovative programme that continues these opportunities under the guidance of skilled facilitators and practising headteachers.
Touchstone will encapsulate the latest thinking and research together with practical approaches such as case-study, leadership enquiry visits to schools/educational settings and opportunities to work together on the leadership themes and the key issues facing you. The programme core will be a residential and two follow up days with optional enhancements such as international visits, action research, continuing facilitated learning sets and opportunities for peer coaching/consultancy.
The first Touchstone programme will begin in October 2010 and last until Spring 2011 and Early Headship funding can be used to finance you.

We hope you will join us on this dynamic programme tailored to the needs of those in early headship.
