University College Plymouth St Mark & St John has an established reputation for its work in support of those seeking to gain insight and enlightenment into leadership and management, particularly within educational contexts. This largely has been achieved within a Postgraduate Professional Development Programme offering opportunities for those involved in education to gain credit for their work at Masters level.
The University College is enthusiastic about its involvement with the innovative SELT ‘Hiqh Quality leadership’ programme which brings together practitioners from HE, LAs and schools from two regions within the UK. The approach of the initiative, which began by raising a set of interests and concerns arising from practice and reframing them into a set of issues to be addressed collaboratively, comfortably reflects the University College’s experience and expertise within the field of practitioner research within educational contexts.
The focuses identified for further research are contemporary and challenging. Consequently the dissemination of findings and outcomes should make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge and understanding which informs practice, thereby enhancing the educational experience of young people.
